New Chain!

The old chain started giving me grief at around 17,000 miles need tension adjustments almost daily. It started making some awful noises so I bit the bullet and replaced the chain. The stock chain on a V-Strom DL650 is a D.I.D. 525 V8 (116 links for 2004-2007, 118 links for 2007-). I decided to replace my chain with a slightly much beefier x-ring based chain: the D.I.D. 525 ZVM-X. I also wanted to replace my sprockets because they were slightly worn, and a chain replacement would be the opportune time to replace them. For a chain tool, I picked up the Motion Pro Jumbo Chain Tool.

I installed the SW-MOTECH Convertible Footpegs on my bike last week. First impressions are good. More later.

New R/R on the Strom

I installed a new R/R to run more cool, reduce stator load, and provide a more stable voltage by using FETs. You can get the kit here.

San Angeltino Trip

Probably one of the most serious "EPIC" moments we have ever had on a trip that turned this Big Bend trip into a loop of San Angelo and San Antonio. Hail at 7am is not a good motivator to do anything other than stop.
